Privacy: what we collect and what we don't
HoldValue is a static education site. There is no account system, and there are no logins, forms or file uploads anywhere on it. This page is an honest account of what we use to understand how the site is visited, and one line that will not change: we never touch your sensitive account information.
What we never collect
This site does not collect, process or ask you to submit any sensitive account information (for example login credentials, verification details, asset-control data or identity documents). We never need it, and we never will. Any page that asks you for that kind of information is not one of ours, so please be on your guard.
How we understand visits
To learn which content readers find useful, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for anonymous visit statistics:
- On by default: there is no pop-up asking for consent when you open a page; statistics simply run. If you would rather not be counted, click "Turn off analytics" under "Your choices" below and it takes effect straight away.
- Off by default for visitors in the European Economic Area (the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the UK and Turkey: these places require consent before analytics cookies are set, so GA4 writes no cookies until you click "Allow analytics" yourself. Google estimates the region from where the visit comes from; you do not have to tell us anything.
- No IP logging: Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses.
- Advertising features are all off: ad-related storage and data sharing are never enabled, and the site runs no ads.
- The choice you make on this page is stored in your browser's local storage (localStorage) and applied the next time you visit.
There is a second statistics script, and it is not in our page files. The site is delivered through Cloudflare's network, and as Cloudflare serves each page it adds its Web Analytics script to the end. The script loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com, records page views and how quickly pages load, and sends that data back to /cdn-cgi/rum on this domain. Because Cloudflare adds it at the delivery stage, it is not controlled by the analytics switch on this page and keeps running even if you turn GA4 off. Cloudflare says this service does not collect or use visitors' personal data, and when we checked in our own browser it had written no cookies for this site and nothing to local storage.
What we look at is aggregate data (which pages get read, roughly which regions visits come from, how long people stay), not "who you are". We run no ads and sell no data.
Third-party requests
- Google Analytics: on by default (off by default in the EEA, the UK and Turkey), and you can turn it off on this page. See Google's privacy terms for details.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com and is not controlled by the analytics switch on this page; the section above explains it.
- Google Fonts: the page fonts load from Google's font service, which means requests are made to Google. If you would rather they were not, you can block this at the browser level.
Apart from that, this site has no comment section, no third-party tracking pixels and no ad networks.
Your choices
To turn GA4 off, click "Turn off analytics" below: the site stops counting your visits and deletes the GA4 cookies already set (the ones whose names start with _ga). To switch it back on later, click "Allow analytics". The choice applies only to this browser; in another browser, or after clearing local storage, you will need to choose again.
To opt out of Google Analytics on every website, install Google's Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Cloudflare's Web Analytics is outside this switch; if you want it blocked as well, a content-blocking browser extension can block static.cloudflareinsights.com. Turning off or blocking statistics does not affect your ability to read any of the content.
